THE Bureau of Treasury said that they were able to record a budget surplus of P88 billion in January this year, which is more than 90% from the posted P45.7 billion last year.
"The fiscal outturn was brought about by a faster 21.15% year-over-year increase in revenue collection outpacing the 10.39% expansion in government spending," the national treasury said.
Likewise, the total revenues during the month is at P421.8 billion. It is higher than the P348.2 billion last year.
The BTr said this is due to the higher tax collections that made up 91.31% or P385.2 billion of the total collection.
On the other hand the remaining 8.69% or P36.6 billion was thru the non-tax sources.
The national government's disbursements, meanwhile, amounted to P333.99 billion, higher by 10.39 percent than last year's spending of P302.4 billion.
The BTr said that primary expenditures, which accounted for 77.77% of the total, reached P259.6 billion, higher than the P255.4 billion posted a year ago.
