THE National Grid Corporation said that the Luzon Grid will once again be placed on yellow alert this afternoon, as 15 plants remain on forced outage.

Likewise, 30 areas in the country are said to be under “danger” levels of heat.

According to the NGCP, the yellow alert indicates that the operating margin is not sufficient for the transmission grid’s contingency requirement — from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday.

According to the grid’s available capacity, it was said to be at 15,167 megawatts, which has a peak demand of 13,714 megawatts.

A total of four plants are on forced outage since 2023, three between January and March 2024, and nine since April 2024, while one other is running on derated capacity for a total of 1,406.8 megawatts unavailable to the grid.

According to the Department of Energy (DOE) there would be more yellow and red alerts in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, PAGASA earlier said that the heat index of 30 areas in various parts of the country may hit the “danger” level. on Monday, reaching as high as 47 degrees Celsius in Dagupan City in Pangasinan, and Aparri in Cagayan.
