Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary and Philippine Open Government Partnership (PH-OGP) Chairperson Amenah F. Pangandaman led the launch of the OGPinas!, the Department’s Open Government National Advocacy Campaign, in the MIMAROPA Region.
The OGPinas! seeks to provide an avenue for Filipinos to access information, encourage civic participation, and strengthen public accountability. For this year, the advocacy campaign will highlight the commitments under the 6th PH-OGP National Action Plan (NAP), which socializes the PH-OGP’s medium-term plans.
Held in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, with around 300 participants, this year’s fourth run of the OGPinas! highlighted the country’s efforts and commitments to promote open and accessible justice institutions. Speaking on behalf of the government were Atty. Amabel Africa of the Office of Supreme Court Associate Justice Samuel Gaerlan, and Atty. Francis Benedict Reotutar of the Commission on Elections.
“These commitments reflect the role of open government in transparent and accountable governance through our justice and electoral systems—which significantly affect our nation’s growth,” PH-OGP Chair and DBM Secretary Pangandaman noted in her keynote address. She also proudly shared the PH-OGP's recent achievement, with four out of the 55 new members of the prestigious OGP Local Program coming from the Philippines.
