Terra Solar Philippines Inc. (TSPI) has awarded the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for the east-side development of MTerra Solar Project to Power Construction Corp. of China Ltd. (PowerChina).

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange, Meralco PowerGen Corp. (MGEN) said PowerChina and its affiliates will oversee procurement, design, engineering, permitting, manufacturing, testing, logistics, and on-site delivery of materials related to the project execution.

It added that TSPI’s partnership with PowerChina underscores the company’s commitment to deliver the world’s largest integrated solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery facility efficiently, safely, and on time.

“We sign this EPC agreement with Power China recognizing their expertise, exceptional track record, and unwavering commitment to excellence — we know that they will help us realize our bold ambition,” MGEN president and chief executive officer Manny Rubio said.

Under the agreement, PowerChina’s EPC contract will cover the MTerra Solar’s east section, which property spans around 1,505 hectares encompassing Brgy. Makabaklay in Gapan, Brgy. Pias in General Tinio, and Brgy. Callos in Peñaranda, all located in Nueva Ecija.

The section also accounts for 1,050 megawatt peak (MWp) of the project’s total capacity.

“MTerra Solar serves as our bold step towards ensuring a sustainable energy future for the Philippines — and with Power China as our partner, we are well on our way to achieving our vision of a cleaner energy future for the Philippines,” TSPI president and executive director Dennis Jordan said.

Last month, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. joined Meralco chairperson and chief executive officer Manuel V. Pangilinan for the groundbreaking of the MTerra Solar Project in Nueva Ecija.

MTerra Solar is currently the world’s largest single-site solar power project with integrated battery facility.

The solar power plant has a capacity of 3,500 MWp and 4,500 MW hour battery energy storage system.
