The Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) is considering a possible partnership with the MVP Group for the management and operation of the more than 240 hectares of leased area in Camp John Hay.
This was after the Supreme Court issued a resolution ordering the private developer Camp John Hay Development Corp. to turn over the management operations of the leased area to BCDA.
Leilani Barlongay-Macasaet, vice president for public affairs of the BCDA, in a press statement Friday, said their executives and MVP Group head Manual Pangilinan met during the week “to discuss potential investments aimed at fostering growth in northern Luzon.”
“During their visit, the MVP Group outlined their intentions to expand their presence in the region, particularly through investments in Camp John Hay and other strategic locations in Baguio and the Cordillera area,” she said.
The MVP Group is present in the Cordillera as a major stockholder of the Philex Mining Corp. in Benguet.
Macasaet said Pangilinan pledged to preserve and enhance Camp John Hay’s legacy properties.
"He said that Camp John Hay embodies the unique charm and character of Baguio where he has very fond memories,” she said.
Macasaet said BCDA president and CEO Joshua Bingcang sees the potential partnership as a pivotal step toward furthering the region’s development.
