The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has partnered with SM Supermalls to provide the public with live traffic feed from select traffic cameras and motorists with real-time traffic conditions in the metropolis.

During the launch at SM Megamall on Wednesday, MMDA Chair Romando “Don” Artes said these live CCTV feeds will be displayed in participating SM malls and will show the traffic conditions in nearby areas.

To date, the live traffic feed is available at SM Megamall, showing the southbound portions of EDSA-Shaw Boulevard and EDSA-Ayala, as well as the northbound portions of EDSA-Guadiz and EDSA-Santolan.

“This is just the beginning at SM Megamall. Soon, SM will replicate this initiative at the Mall of Asia and SM North EDSA. We will also be posting a traffic advisory that will include traffic information not only along EDSA but across the entire Metro Manila,” Guadiz said.

The collaboration, he said, is meant to extend the reach of the agency’s traffic information services by leveraging the high foot traffic of SM malls.

“By providing commuters with timely and accurate traffic information, the project empowers the public to make informed travel decisions that can help improve traffic flow and reduce congestion in key areas,” he said.

SM Supermalls regional operations head Christian Mathay said the project is a public-private partnership that seeks to provide “simple, smart solutions that deliver real value to people, right where they are.”

“Today's launch is just the beginning. We see this as a step toward more data-driven, community-focused initiatives that help Filipinos move forward - safe, smoothly, and with confidence. To our partners from MMDA, thank you for your trust and collaboration,” Mathay said.
